Happy New Year to you, your family, friends, and all those you love.
With the New Year, I’m turning my attention to enhancing and expanding our “apostolic life” here at SJA.
The apostolic life of our parish is the life of the parish as it flows from our celebration of the Eucharist. Our weekly worship nourishes, guides and teaches us weekly as we live out our Christian vocation in our daily lives. Periodically, and in many and varied ways, we return to the parish church, the parish community, to reaffirm and deepen that vocation. This looks like our various apostolates: athletics, adult faith formation, Vincent de Paul, Boy Scouting, etc. As pastor, I have a strong desire to facilitate a systematic discernment process to see where our apostolic life can be strengthened and even expanded. This process will start out with two component parts. Firstly, a stewardship awareness campaign that begins this weekend. Secondly, a surveying and feedback campaign that will begin at the end of January. My thanks to the parish council for their assistance in this preparation period.
So, introducing ALL IS GIFT! This weekend and next I’ll be preaching all the Masses to once again highlight the great Blessings and Commission we have from the Lord and what He asks of us. We’ll highlight our successes and impact and also call to mind some areas where we can grow. One component of this part is an Increased Offertory Program. This week you’ll receive a brochure detailing the ALL IS GIFT program our parish will be participating in the next few weeks. This informative brochure is intended to communicate the financial needs of the parish and why we are having a dedicated focus on our parish offertory. Commitment Sunday for ALL IF GIFT is January 13 and 14. I’d like to encourage you to spend some time in prayer, discernment and discussion with your family reflecting on our parish’s needs and your current giving level. I’ll look forward to our Commitment Weekend when as a parish we will pledge to continue our commitment to the worshipping and apostolic life at St. Joan of Arc.
I’ll introduce the second component, the survey, next week.
In the meantime, please contact me directly at the parish office if you have any questions about the ALL IS GIFT program and the material you’ll be receiving.
And, as always, know that you are loved dearly and prayed for daily.
With peace and prayers for you,
