Weekend Update at SJA!

Sunday, February 11, 2018

 Dear Friends,

The Young Catholic Musicians will be at St. Joan of Arc on Sun. Feb. 18 to celebrate with us as a parish and to provide the musical liturgy for the 10:30 am Mass.  All are welcome.  The Young Catholic Musicians (YCM) are the archdiocesan group of young singers and instrumentalists from the Metro area, including three SJA parishioners.  YCM is celebrating 43 years of service to Christ with young people serving the Church through musical prayer. A free will offering is requested to help in their ministry.

Ash Wednesday is February 14. Our Mass times are 8am and 5:30pm.  There is NO dispensation for Valentine’s Day celebrations. So, enjoy your romantic steak and lobster dinner on Tuesday!

A few things to keep in mind as we approach Lent:

-Our Mission Mondays: each Monday during Lent, 7-8pm, Dr. Randy Rosenberg will present on the life and teachings of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Jesuits. Dr. Rosenberg will give insights and points for prayer and learning about spirituality, prayer, theology and the apostolic life. Monday evenings in church. All are welcome.

-Fish Fries: Fridays during Lent in the school cafeteria. Volunteers are always needed so look elsewhere in the bulletin if you’re able to work a few hours.

-Almsgiving Project: this Lent we will once again partner with our Sister Parish in Guatemala. More information will be forthcoming but for now: several years ago, our Sister Parish opened up a health clinic. Now, that health clinic needs some new supplies: a new microscope, a centrifuge, and additional disposable daily goods. We’re going to raise money to buy these things and then buy them we our mission team goes down there this summer. More information coming.

Know that you are loved dearly and prayed for daily.

Peace and prayers for you,
Fr. Craig
